Lorinda Knight is coming full circle. She always loved to draw and majored in Art at Smith College. She went on to get an advanced degree in Interior Design at Washington State University (WSU). As an Associate at ALSC Architects in Spokane, WA, she completed many large commercial design projects.  Lighting design and advanced planning and design became her areas of expertise during her teaching career at WSU. She also led extensive study trips for advanced design students to London, England.

Her design skills were helpful as she created a space for her new art gallery in Spokane, WA. The Lorinda Knight Gallery served as an exciting hub for contemporary art of the Northwest for 13 years. During this time she served as a juror for regional exhibits and as a panelist for the Washington State Arts Commission and served on the boards of a business group, a contemporary arts alliance, and a local theater company.

Taking a leap, she and her husband left Eastern Washington and moved to the heart of San Francisco. Here she has taken public education classes at the San Francisco Art Institute and worked in her studio while exploring the Bay Area. Taking up a brush, she knows that each new painting must have its own presence by defining space in an abstract way. She builds a fluid framework for experimentation and deepening awareness.
